Cornwall has no shortage of beautiful towns and villages, from pretty fishing villages to vibrant, thriving towns. The towns and villages all have their own unique characters and beauty but Crackington Haven with its imposing cliffs and remote location is arguably one of the most breathtaking ~ a real hidden gem!

Here’s our guide to some of North Cornwall’s most memorable and beautiful towns and villages all located not far from Mineshop Holiday Cottages.

Boscastle

Situated five miles to the south of Mineshop, Boscastle is a charming Cornish harbour village which is rich in history and retains a great deal of its original character.

You will find fantastic pubs, gift shops, many cafes and museum of witchcraft and magic.

From this picturesque village you can take a boat trip along the coast or go off shore to enjoy a few hours of fishing. The coastal waters are home to seals throughout the year..

Padstow

Padstow is an historic and beautiful fishing town and is home to four of Rick Stein’s restaurants. The historic harbour is a great spot to eat fish and chips and go crabbing.

The streets are lined with lots of foodie and craft shops with lovely gift ideas. There are also plenty of boats offering fishing trips.

From here you can also hire a push bike and explore the Camel Trail.


Port Isaac

Port Isaac is a small quaint fishing village that has ensured its fame by doubling as the fictional village Portwenn in the TV series Doc Martin, using its rich landscapes for filming.

Here you can on the Doc Martin Tour, which will give you an insight into all the filming locations of the TV series. You are also able to have your photo taken outside the TV home of Doc Martin on Roscarrock Hill.

Bude

Located roughly 7 miles to the north of Mineshop, Bude is a mix of contemporary and old fashioned charm. There are plenty of unique gift shops and a wide selection of individual restaurants, cafes and pubs.

Make sure you find time for a walk along the canal – it has one of only three lock gates opening straight into the sea in the whole of the UK.


Bude has two beautiful beaches; Crooklets and Summerleaze with it's beach pool. 


Clovelly

Clovelly is a small timeless village in North Devon. It has an old harbour where the steep, cobbled street tumbles down past the pretty cottages with wonderful views over the Bristol Channel.
