North Cornwall Beaches

Cornwall is renowned for its stunning, uncrowded, clean, sandy beaches. Perfect for walking dogs, playing with your family, surfing or sunbathing

Cornwall's beaches are rated among the best in the world, some of the most exquisite are the more secluded and previously unheard of. At Mineshop we are always happy to give you suggestions on where to find hidden gems.

As for the more popular beaches, there are plenty in the area, most of which allow dogs with restrictions during the busier months

Crackington Haven

Crackington Haven is an exquisite beach set between imposing cliffs and is located an easy one mile walk through the fields and valley footpath from our cottages at Mineshop.

At low tide the beach extends out and becomes a large sandy beach which is perfect for making sandcastles or exploring the rock pools located on either side of the beach. Surfing is also popular here and surf hire is available at the Cabin Cafe.

Millook

Situated between Crackington Haven and Widemouth Bay is Millook beach. With it's impressive zig-zag rock formation cliffs this remote, rocky beach is the perfect place to walk the dog and get away from the crowds on a summers day.

This beach is mainly rocky and coarse shingle, it has many large rock pools at low tide and is well known spot among experienced surfers.

Widemouth Bay

Split into two beaches at high tide; Main beach and Black Rock. These bustling, sandy beaches are popular with bathers and surfers.

Black Rock Beach at the South end of Widemouth Bay, allows dogs all year round.

Freewave Surf Academy operate from here and Mineshop guests receive a discount on bookings.

Bude

Bude has two beaches: Crooklets and Summerleaze. Both offer a wide expanse of golden sand at low tide and are bordered by rocky outcrops which are ideal for rock-pooling. Crooklets is at the north side of Bude and can be reached by a short walk over the Summerleaze Down or down the hill from the town centre.

Both beaches are popular with surfers but  Summerleaze also has a part natural, part man-made sea pool offering safe bathing.

Trebarwith Strand

Trebarwith Strand is just over two miles from Tintagel. This sandy beach becomes completely covered at high tide and is accessed over rocks.
